About Us

The October Saves Goalie Challenge is an all-volunteer 501 (c)(3) charitable organization that began in 2014 when the Ashburn Xtreme Hockey Club decided to raise money to fight cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness month.We came up with a simple concept. Ask goalies to gather pledges from family, friends and teammates for each save they make in the month of October.

The first year 28 goalies raised an amazing $32,000 for cancer research. Not surprisingly we also learned our goalies were excited to join forces and be leaders in the community as well as on the ice.More than 2500 goalies from across the US and Canada have now participated in October Saves.

To date, the goalies of October Saves have raised over 1.5 million dollars to fight cancer!
